Cruise West is a destination-focused cruise line founded by adventure travel pioneer Chuck West. Itineraries emphasize the wildlife, culture, history and geography of visited destinations, while onboard naturalists and other experts provide a wealth of information.
The small ships of Cruise West have shallow drafts that allow them to enter remote ports and secluded inlets and bays. The captain can maneuver close to shore for an up-close view of a waterfall, for example, or of a black bear ambling on a rocky beach. A casual onboard atmosphere is encouraged on these vessels, which carry from 78 to 138 passengers. There is no need to dress up for dinner.
Cruise West offers sailings around the world. In the United States, explore Alaska's Inside Passage, the California wine country, and the Columbia and Snake rivers in the Pacific Northwest. Visit Kuna Indian villages in Panama and rain forests in Costa Rica, or watch for whales in Mexico's Sea of Cortez. Cruise West also offers trips in Asia and the South Pacific.
