Day 1 Arrive Longyearbyen
Embark the MS Expedition in the afternoon and depart Longyearbyen in the evening. (1D)

Day 2-7 Svalbard Archipelago/Spitsbergen
Visit ice-covered fjords with breathtaking mountain scenery and glaciers. Spend time steaming through the ice in search of polar bears hunting seals. At one or more of the stops, you may have the opportunity to see polar fox or Svalbard’s unique reindeer.

Our goal is to give our guests the best possible opportunity to see wildlife in and around the Spitsbergen archipelago. Ice conditions sometimes allow us to sail through Hinlopen Strait towards the east coast of Spitsbergen, then through Freemansundet towards the south. However this is not always the case and on many departures we decide to explore alternative routes to maximize our time in this remote destination. Early season voyages often provide the greatest opportunity to see large ice floes in the Arctic pack ice, which usually means excellent wildlife viewing. Later in the season we can cover more territory, which may allow us to explore the entire archipelago. This can lead us to the less explored regions of Nordaustlandet and Kvitoya, or the continental edges where large whales are attracted by nutrient rich upwellings. (6B,6L,6D)

Day 8 Depart Longyearbyen
Arrive in the morning to disembark. (1B)

From close-up encounters with icebergs and glaciers to the region’s plentiful wildlife, this is a voyage of nonstop highlights. Always on the lookout for wildlife you’ll explore this landscape not only by ship but also on foot and by Zodiac. Roaming polar bears, lounging seals, grazing reindeer and colonies of birds all co-exist in this harsh land we dare only to explore a couple months of the year.

• All cabins consist of twin sized berths and are oceanview. Suites have one queen size bed.
• Drinks and tips while on the expedition ship are not included.

• Shared triple and quad cabins are same-sex cabins only. Males and females can not stay in triple cabins together unless their traveling party has booked all berths in the cabin.
