Day 4 to Day 5 - Amsterdam, the City of Canals
After breakfast, drive to the famous white cliffs of Dover, where your ferry across the English Channel awaits. Disembark at Calais and follow the coast into Belgium past the port of Antwerp. After entering the Netherlands, see the first of the windmills on your way to Amsterdam. Tonight, at a magnificent venue in the heart of the city you are offered a variety of authentic dishes plus drinks at a welcome Reception. Next morning, see all the sights on an orientation tour past the Mint Tower, floating Flower Market and Royal Palace in Dam Square. Then board a special canal cruiser to glide under low bridges, past the magnificent gabled mansions of the 17th century merchants. After a demonstration of diamonds being cut and polished, the afternoon is at leisure. Perhaps join an optional excursion through the Dutch countryside to the pretty village of Volendam? (Continental Breakfast / Welcome Reception / Buffet Breakfast)

Day 6 - Castles of the Rhine Valley and Heidelberg
Pass Arnhem, renowned for its ‘Bridge Too Far’, before crossing the German border bound for the Romantic Rhine. Take time to explore the lovely little village of Boppard, nestled on the largest loop of the Rhine, before embarking on your scenic cruise. Drift past steep leafy vineyards, medieval hill-top castles and hear the legend of the Loreley Rock. Follow the Neckar river to your retro-styled hotel in the centre of Heidelberg, known for its castle and baroque style Old Town. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner)

Day 7 - Bavarian Alps and Innsbruck, the mountainringed capital of Tyrol
Skirt the northern Black Forest and head for the rolling Bavarian Alps. Stop beneath the renowned royal castles of Hohenschwangau and King Ludwig’s fairy-tale Neuschwanstein. Once over the Austrian border continue to Innsbruck, capital of the Tyrol. Tour the architectural jewels of the city, seeing the Imperial Palace, delightful Golden Roof and the 14th century houses of the old town. (Buffet Breakfast)

Day 8 to Day 9 - Fair Verona, Venice and the magic of 'La Serenissima'
Leave Innsbruck and travel across the impressive Europa Bridge, and cross the Brenner Pass into Italy. Follow the Adige River through spectacular scenery down to the great plain. Visit fascinating Verona, with its Roman Arena, maze of elegant squares and, of course, Juliet’s balcony. Now on to glorious Venice, known for over a thousand years as ‘La Serenissima’. The following morning, visit an arts centre to see hand-blown Venetian glass and how gondolas are made. Then relax on a private launch as it cruises past the island of San Giorgio to St Mark’s Square. Stroll along the water’s edge to see the Bridge of Sighs which connects the Doges’ Palace with the prisons. It was from here that Casanova made his daring escape! See St Mark’s Basilica and bell tower before embarking on a gondola serenade through the watery streets. Glide along the atmospheric canals exploring the intimate and hidden parts of this unique city while musicians set the mood with traditional songs. Now enjoy free time for your own pursuits. (Buffet Breakfast / Dinner / Buffet Breakfast)

Day 10 to Day 11 - Lucerne's Lions and Dragons
Travel through some of the richest farmland in Europe as you cross northern Italy. Glimpse the beautiful Italian Lake District as you continue into the heart of the Swiss Alps. Towering mountains and rushing torrents give way to pretty Lucerne, a romantic collection of spires, steeples, medieval bridges and half-timbered houses, set beside its lake. During your stay, walk with your Tour Director to the emotive Lion Monument. Then spend time shopping in the traffic-free Old Town or stroll across the Chapel Bridge to the ornate Jesuit Church. Later, embark on a highlight excursion by cog-wheel train and cable-car to the summit of one of Switzerland’s most famous mountains, Mount Pilatus. In medieval times, it was believed that dragons lived in these rugged clefts, but now the only amazing sights to see are over the snow-capped Jungfrau and Eiger peaks. This evening, get together with your friends and choose from our selection of authentic local restaurants for your dining pleasure. (Buffet Breakfast / Buffet Breakfast / Dine Around)

Day 12 to Day 13 - Paris, the 'City of Light'
Drive to Basel before crossing the Rhine to enter France. Travel through the wine-growing Burgundy region to Paris, the vibrant ‘Ville-Lumière’ . Tonight head for the Latin Quarter, famous for its Sorbonne university and Boulevards St Michel and St Germain where you enjoy a ‘diner de célébration’ served with wine in a typical Parisian bistro. Wake up refreshed and ready to embrace this most romantic city. Meet your local expert who takes you past Notre Dame Cathedral and the imposing façades of the Louvre. Drive through the Place de la Concorde, where the guillotine once stood, and down the Champs Élysées to the Arc de Triomphe. Now Insight ensures you leave the long queues at the Eiffel Tower behind - ascend by express elevator to the famous viewing platforms for breathtaking panoramas over the city. The afternoon is at leisure to enjoy at our own pace. (Buffet Breakfast / Celebration Dinner / Buffet Breakfast)
