Begin the Antarctic odyssey in Punta Arenas, the most populated city in Patagonia. Once a Chilean penal colony, the city has now transformed into a vibrant port city with plenty of museums, historic sites and shops. Perhaps arrive early to venture into the surrounding mountains for a host of exciting activities.

Day 2 Embarkation
Cross the wild and wintery Drake Passage by air, and if the conditions are clear, watch as the barren icy terrain of King George Island creeps into view. After arriving on the island, take some time to stretch the legs and explore this remote community. Board a Zodiac and make waves thorugh the icy, blue waters to the waiting ship. Be sure to read up on Ernest Shackleton’s legendary failed expedition – viewing the island’s inhospitable terrain first-hand makes his incredible story seem even more heroic.

Days 3-6 Antarctic Peninsula/South Shetland Islands
Frozen in nature and time, there are few places in the world as evocative as Antarctica. When the Great White Continent comes into view, feel the rush of adrenaline and experience what no amount of superlatives can possibly express. As the Captain and Expedition Team keep their eyes out for whales and seabirds to point out on sighting, expert lecturers are on hand to provide in-depth explanations of the geology of the region. Depending on the conditions, enjoy daily Zodiac cruises in search of whales and icebergs around Pleneau Island, a brisk hike to a chinstrap rookery or an overnight camping expedition - each day spent in this remote land lends itself to an exhilarating experience.

Day 7 Disembarkation
Take a last look at the icy shores, electric-blue icebergs and quirky wildlife of the Antarctic continent before saying goodbye to the wonderful expedition crew. Take the short flight from King George Island back to Punta Arenas and head back to the hotel on arrival. Perhaps head out for a final meal to celebrate this incredible Antarctic adventure.

Day 8 Punta Arenas
The time has come say farewell to this remote Chilean town. Perhaps spend a few extra days exploring the sea parks and penguin colonies close to Punta Arenas or head north in to the wilds of Patagonia for more outdoor adventures in this incredible part of the world.

Take the fast track to that vast, frost-bitten wilderness at the South Pole. From Punta Arenas, fly over the infamously choppy waters of the Drake Passage to King George Island, and hop aboard a ship bound for the frozen wonderland. Cruise between towering icebergs floating in iridescent blue seas, and feel the thrill of catching the first glimpses of Antarctica's icy shoreline. Over the next four days, explore this continent blanketed with snow and ice - perhaps learn about the fascinating geology and history of the region from expert guides, spot whales and seals cavorting in the Southern Ocean, or make friends with penguins on windswept beaches. No two expeditions are the same, but the magic of Antarctica will infect all those adventurous enough to travel to the end of the earth.
