Day 1: Boston, Massachusetts - Tour Begins
Behold the beautiful bays and travel the historic railways of spectacular New England! From mouth-watering seafood to breathtaking views and charming towns, Collette Vacations’ exciting new adventure showcases the very best of this coastal region.
Day 2: Boston - Portland, Maine
Discover the history and charm that abound in Boston. A sightseeing tour features the Old South Meeting House which in 1773 was the organizing point for the Boston Tea Party; the Public Gardens, the gathering place of patriots; Old North Church; historic Beacon Hill; and the U.S.S. Constitution - the oldest commissioned warship afloat in the world. Later, take a stroll around the famed Faneuil Hall marketplace, sampling its eclectic and tempting assortment of food and visiting its many boutiques and shops! Then, depart for the enchanting rock bound coast of Maine. Tonight, join your fellow travelers for a very special welcome dinner of fresh native lobster for which coastal Maine is renowned.
Day 3: Portland
This morning you’ll enjoy a tour through the city of Portland featuring a visit to the Portland Harbor Museum. Here you are rewarded a beautiful view of the stately Portland Head Lighthouse. Next, climb aboard a ferry for a cruise of Casco Bay. This scenic cruise follows an inner bay route that takes you past gorgeous Victorian cottages that are dotted along the shorelines of Little and Great Diamond islands. The remainder of your afternoon is at leisure to discover the bustling center of downtown Portland.
Day 4: Portland - North Conway, New Hampshire
Depart Maine and journey through the lovely New England countryside to New Hampshire. Board the Conway Scenic Railroad for a nostalgic ride across the famed Frankenstein Trestle and Willey Brook Bridge in which sheer bluffs, steep ravines, cascading brooks and streams, and panoramic mountain vistas paint nature’s canvas outside your window. This afternoon, enjoy a stroll through the quaint village of North Conway where you can visit one of its many outlet stores before returning to the hotel, nestled in the heart of the Mount Washington Valley. Tonight, enjoy dinner at leisure in the hotel’s lovely dining room.
Day 5: North Conway - West Dover, Vermont
This morning you drive along the scenic Crawford Notch – the steep and narrow gorge of the Saco River – through the White Mountains of New Hampshire. Surrounding the White Mountain trail you can find glaciated mountains, swamps and lakes. Elevations along this trail range from 500 to 4,000 feet; some isolated peaks rise higher than 5,000 feet! Ride up Mount Washington aboard the world's first mountain - climbing cog railway – a truly exciting and unforgettable experience.
Day 6: Vermont
Get ready to discover the beauty of southern Vermont during a full day sightseeing tour aboard Vermont’s Green Mountain Flyer Train. Built in the 1850s, this remarkable train takes you on a nostalgic journey through Vermont’s lush countryside and along two historic covered bridges. Along the way, enjoy a stop at a local farm where you’ll have lunch and tour the farm from the vantage point of a 1921 Model T. Before returning to your hotel, witness the elegance and beauty of the Friesian breed of horses when you attend a captivating Majestic Friesian performance, a classic Vermont experience, followed by a tranquil carriage ride through the grounds.
Day 7: Vermont - Ledyard, Connecticut
Enjoy a morning at leisure to relax and enjoy the amenities at your hotel or perhaps explore the historic town of Wilmington. This afternoon, drive through Massachusetts into Connecticut, arriving at Foxwoods Resort Casino, the largest casino in the world, and your home for the next two nights.
Day 8: Connecticut
Today, explore some of the most beautiful countryside in the state, where lush forests, running streams, beautiful vistas and nostalgic towns create a natural wonderland at your fingertips. Behold incredible views of the Connecticut River as you take a ride aboard the Essex Steam Train. Then, board the Becky Thatcher River Boat where you will view several man-made wonders such as the bridges, ferries and river-front homes New England is known for, along with the historic Goodspeed Opera House and Gillette Castle. Throughout your journey, discover the history, natural wonders and legends that abound in these waters.
Day 9: Connecticut - Newport, Rhode Island
Depart Connecticut and travel along New England’s pristine coast to the seaside town of Newport, RI. Enjoy a leisurely afternoon shopping at some of Newport’s numerous boutiques or simply take a stroll down the famed Thames Street. Later tonight, join your fellow travelers and set sail for a very special farewell dinner cruise aboard a yacht.
