8 days with Tauck   Rating: Deluxe

Click for Dates and Prices Day 1 Arrive Halifax
Tour begins: 5:30 PM, The Prince George Hotel. Welcome to Nova Scotia! A transfer from the Halifax Airport to The Prince George Hotel in the heart of downtown Halifax is included upon arrival. Your journey begins with a welcome reception and dinner at Pier 21, where the story of 20th-century immigration to Canada is chronicled through exhibits and a poignant multimedia production, "Oceans of Hope." (D)

Day 2 Lunenburg & Peggy's Cove
Pass seaside hamlets and harbor towns en route to Lunenburg, whose 19th-century wooden homes have been named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Today's sightseeing offers a choice of a Lunenburg walking tour or a visit to the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, showcasing the seafaring heritage of the Canadian Maritime provinces. Visit the lovely towns of Peggy's Cove and Mahone Bay before an evening at leisure. (B, L)

Day 3 Historic Halifax and an exclusive evening at the Citadel
Spend the entire day in Halifax, exploring a city rich in museums and culture and home to the Halifax Seaport Farmers Market, one of the oldest in North America. Join us this evening for a Tauck Exclusive: a private tour and dinner at the star-shaped Citadel National Historic Site - which commemorates Halifax's role as a key naval station in the British Empire and 300 years of tradition - with stunning views of the city. (B, D)

Day 4 From Nova Scotia travel to Prince Edward Island
Bid a temporary goodbye to Nova Scotia as you ride a ferry to lovely Prince Edward Island. Following lunch, arrive in the provincial capital of Charlottetown for a two-night stay. Enjoy an afternoon walking tour, then settle in at your hotel, just steps from Old Charlottetown's boardwalk and Peake's Wharf. The evening is free to spend as you please. (B, L)

Day 5 Prince Edward Island National Park & Green Gables House
Following time to explore Charlottetown, depart for a visit to Prince Edward Island National Park; see salt marshes rich in wildlife, freshwater ponds, dramatic bluffs and quaint fishing villages as you travel along the island's coastline. The view from Orby Head, the park's highest point, is a delight - as is a tour of Green Gables House, the farmhouse immortalized by Lucy Maud Montgomery in her tales of the red-headed orphan. Tonight, cap a very special day by digging into a traditional lobster dinner - a must-have experience on P.E.I. (B, D)

Day 6 Experience Nova Scotia's living history at the Port-Royal Habitation National Historic Site
Depart Prince Edward Island and resume your Nova Scotia travel today as you cross the Confederation Bridge to New Brunswick, then return to Nova Scotia. Explore French pioneer life from the early 17th century as recreated by costumed interpreters and artisan demonstrators at the Habitation at the Port Royal National Historic Site, a reconstruction of the earliest non-Hispanic European settlement in North America. Continue on to a two-night stay in Digby; your historic seaside resort was built in 1929 and overlooks the Annapolis Basin and the Bay of Fundy. (B, L, D)

Day 7 Whale Watching at Digby Neck on the Bay of Fundy and a special farewell dinner
Meet a local expert for a presentation on area wildlife before heading out to the strip of land known as Digby Neck, a haven for whale- and seabird-watchers (weather permitting); it's a wonderful place to spot finback, minke and humpback whales and plenty of seals. Spend the afternoon as you wish, then join us for a farewell dinner that includes a presentation by a local fisherman on the history and harvesting of the world-renowned - and melt-in-your-mouth delicious - Digby Scallop. (B, L, D)

Day 8 Journey Home
At Grand-Pré National Historic Site, visit the site of the church and cemetery of the 17th- / 18th-century Acadian village that inspired Longfellow's famed poem, Evangeline - one of the most popular poems in American history. Continue to Halifax for your return home. Tour ends: 11:45 AM at Halifax International Airport. Please allow at least 2 hours for flight check-in. (B)
