Itinerary
Day 1 ARRIVE BOZEMAN
Welcome to Bozeman! Get settled in to your hotel and relax in preparation for the exciting days ahead in America's first National Park. At 6 p.m., gather with your Travel Director and fellow travellers for a Welcome Reception. (Welcome Reception)
Day 2 BOZEMAN - YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - MAMMOTH HOT SPRINGS (2 NIGHTS)
Discover the Museum of the Rockies, a world-class museum, founded in 1957, and best known for its vast collection of dinosaur fossils including the world's largest Tyrannosaurus Rex skull. Take a scenic transfer through the snowy mountains of Montana stopping for a visit in Chico Hot Springs and bundle up for a ride in a horse-drawn wagon to the old town, the gold mine turned ghost town. And don't forget your swimsuit—Chico Hot Springs boasts natural hot spring pools where you can soak, swim or just relax in the soothing water. Continue to your hotel and get settled in before enjoying an included dinner. (Full Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 3 YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - LAMAR VALLEY EXCURSION
Get your cameras ready as you head out with a Local Expert to Lamar Valley, a remote location on the Northeast section of the park which offers one of the best spots for visitors to see Yellowstone's wildlife, especially wolf packs. Gaze in awe at these powerful, beautiful and evasive predators in their winter habitat. As the park is less frequented in the winter months, the wildlife is more active, creating once-in-a-lifetime viewing opportunities. And it is not just wolves! Keep your eyes peeled for eagles, coyotes, bison, elk and moose. Then, it’s on to the quaint town of Cooke City where you can explore before heading back to the hotel for an evening on your own. (Full Breakfast)
Day 4 YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - OLD FAITHFUL (2 NIGHTS)
Yellowstone is a wonderland of over 10,000 geysers, fumaroles, hot springs, mud pots and steam vents and today you will get a chance to do some guided exploring of the park's scenic wonders in special snowvans! Depart from your hotel with a Local Guide and head for the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, the first and largest canyon on the Yellowstone River. Witness the Lower Yellowstone Falls, which cascade down over 91 metres, almost twice the height of Niagara Falls. After a full day of excitement, take this evening to relax at the hotel and enjoy an included dinner. (Full Breakfast / Lunch / Dinner)
Day 5 YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - OLD FAITHFUL FREE TIME
This morning, maybe take an easy walk across the snowy terrain from your hotel to the world-famous Old Faithful Geyser. Old Faithful is called the most predictable geographical feature on Earth due to its consistent and continuous eruptions almost every 90 minutes. Each powerful eruption shoots 14,000 – 32,000 litres of boiling hot water at an average height of 44 metres. Spend some free time taking full advantage of the activities only offered in the winter; strap on a pair of snowshoes or cross country skis and set off on the nearby trails, exploring Yellowstone up close and personal. (Full Breakfast)
Day 6 YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK - GRAND TETON NATIONAL PARK - JACKSON (2 NIGHTS)
Travel down to gorgeous Grand Teton National Park this morning to witness the breathtaking views of the peaks that Theodore Roosevelt described as "what mountains are supposed to look like." Then venture to the National Elk Refuge and partake in a picturesque sleigh ride to view wild elk and their breathtaking winter habitat at the base of the Grand Tetons. The National Elk Refuge is the world's largest wintering concentration of elk. From the sleigh, get an up close look at the elk, which number in the thousands here, and take in the beauty of the valley known as Jackson Hole. This afternoon, depart for Jackson.
