The Ghan

Australia's Ghan train is named for the 19th century Afghan camel drivers who helped explore the country's interior; today The Ghan travels through that same interior for 1,846 miles as it connects Adelaide, Alice Springs and Darwin. The complete journey lasts two nights and can be made in either direction.

The Ghan makes the most of the daylight hours to provide sweeping views of the changing landscape, from the majestic Outback to the subtropical flora of the Top End. Guests in Platinum and Gold Service will enjoy the comforts of the Outback Explorer Lounge and classically styled Queen Adelaide Restaurant Car, while Red Service passengers have access to Matilda Cafe with its panoramic windows and the Red Gum Lounge.
