Royal Gorge Railroad

Canyon City's Royal Gorge Railroad is a heritage railroad that runs a two hour scenic and historic train ride along what is considered to be the most famous portion of the former Denver and Rio Grande Western Railroad. Not only does the ride give passengers the opportunity to see the Gorge, but it also travels under the historic Royal Gorge Suspension Bridge which was built in 1929.

Built in 1882, the train has become a destination attraction that has much history behind it. The train operates year around and features some special events on board including Mother's Day Brunches, Easter Brunches, and New Year's Eve Dinner. The cars on the train, consist of both covered coaches and noncovered coaches which allow passengers to stand and gaze out at the monstrous Royal Gorge.
