4 Day Alaska's Northern Lights 2020 (Wednesday Departure)

DAY 1, Wednesday - Arrive in Fairbanks
Arrive in Fairbanks, known as the Golden Heart City, and transfer independently to the hotel. Time to settle in before tonight's orientation meeting with your Tour Manager at approximately 7 pm, followed by a Welcome Drink.

DAY 2, Thursday - Highlights of Fairbanks, Morris Thompson Center, Welcome Evening
Spend the morning at leisure, or participate in the optional Fairbanks City Tour. Take a tour of Fairbanks, the second-largest city and the heart of Alaska's interior. Learn about the culture of this unique city and its beginnings in the Gold Rush era. Tour historic downtown Fairbanks and later venture off to the Trans-Alaska Pipeline, an astonishing 800-mile engineering feat, built in the 1970's and learn about the Alaska oil industry. Afternoon is free to explore independently, or join the optional Alaska’s Cultural Heritage and Wildlife tour. Discover fascinating stories about Alaska’s Native cultures, places, and diverse wildlife in the museum’s award winning exhibits – a perfect introduction to this vast and diverse state. Continue to the centerpiece of the museum, the Rose Berry Alaska Art Gallery, where you explore 2,000 years of Alaska art. View a range of Alaska art from ancient Eskimo ivory carvings to contemporary paintings and sculptures, both Native and non-Native. From there, proceed to the Large Animal Research Stations (LARS) where you’ll get the chance to view muskoxen and reindeer. Tonight, embark on your quest to see the Northern Lights (Aurora Borealis). DAY 3, Friday - Full Day in Fairbanks
Today is free for independent exploration, or join the optional Denali National Park tour. Depart for a full day tour of a vast region of unspoiled beauty, home to awe-inspiring Denali, the highest peak in North America. Drive through the National Park, and if the weather is clear, you'll see Denali. En route, enjoy an included visit to the quaint railroad town of Nenana. This community has long ties to the Alaska Railroad. During construction a group of rail workers decided to place bets as to when the ice would go out from the river. Today this is known as the Nenana Ice Classic! Upon arrival into Denali, enjoy an included visit to the Murie Science and Learning Center which acts as the Denali Visitor’s Center in the wintertime. Enjoy the National Park Film, “Heartbeats of Denali.” A local ranger is available to answer questions about the park.This evening, set out for another chance to search the skies for the Northern Lights. (Breakfast)

DAY 4, Saturday - Depart Fairbanks
Transfer independently to the airport for your departure flight. (Breakfast)

  • Accommodation Details: Triple rooms consist of two double/queen beds for three persons; where available, a fee may be charged by the hotel for the addition of a cot/rollaway.
  • This moderately active program covers a fair amount of ground each day and gives you the opportunity to search for and perhaps view the Northern Lights. The included Northern lights tours, which run between two to five hours, depart between 9-10 pm often extend late into the evening and exact schedules depend on local weather conditions. Sightings cannot be guaranteed. The pace is moderate, however you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, and steps. Keep in mind that winter in Alaska means snow, ice, and cold temperatures. Some venues are outdoors, so uneven and icy surfaces may be underfoot, therefore proper winter clothing and footwear are essential for your safety and comfort. Airport transfers are not included. Consider a taxi or shared ride service as the least expensive options. This is an Off Season program.
