DAY 1 - Depart for Iceland
Depart for Iceland.
DAY 2 - Arrive in Iceland, Northern Lights Evening Tour*
Welcome to Iceland, transfer independently to your hotel in Reykjavik. Most flights arrive in the early morning and your room may not be ready for you. In this case, leave your luggage with the concierge. Spend the balance of the day at leisure to explore Reykjavik, the world's most northerly capital, surrounded by incredible landscapes and countless natural wonders. Or perhaps take an optional city tour of Reykjavik during which you’ll visit landmarks such as the Pearl for unrivaled views over Reykjavik and the Northern lights Center. View Höfði House where Reagan and Gorbachev met to end the Cold War, and see Hallgrimskirkja church, an iconic Reykjavik landmark. Gain invaluable insight into the Icelandic society and how Reykjavik has developed from a small fishing village into a modern capital. End your tour at Harpa Concert & Conference Hall where you can choose to stay in downtown Reykjavik on your own, or return to your hotel. Later tonight, search the skies for the Northern Lights, (Aurora Borealis) among the most spectacular phenomena on earth. The Northern Lights originate from the sun, where large explosions and electronic storms throw charged solar particles deep into space. This solar wind is caught by the Earth's magnetic field on the south and north poles. The solar particles collide with atmospheric gases and create this wonderful light effect. This evening, hope to see these lights swirling and dancing across the sky, endlessly changing color, shape and size*.
Optional: Reykjavik City Tour (AM)
DAY 3 - Full Day in Reykjavik
Spend the day at leisure to explore Reykjavik, surrounded by incredible landscapes and countless natural wonders. Or perhaps take an optional tour to the world-famous Blue Lagoon, a unique natural pool of mineral-rich geothermal water located in the middle of a lava field. Geothermal seawater is led directly to the Blue Lagoon forming wells as deep as 6,000 feet and the water stays warm at 100-110°F throughout the entire year. An indoor Blue Lagoon and geothermal sauna are also on site. The Blue Lagoon's warm water and natural ingredients of mineral salts, silica and blue green algae help you relax and escape the stress and strain of daily life. (Breakfast)
Optional: Blue Lagoon Experience Comfort (AM)

The Strokkur hot spring erupts every 5 minutes or so, making it one of the most active geysers in the world. Then, on to the Gullfoss waterfall, the queen of Iceland's waterfalls, tumbling down a deep gorge. Next stop is a visit to Thingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site where the tectonic plates of Europe and North America meet and one of the world's oldest parliaments was founded in 930 AD. This moderately active, adventurous program is intended to offer an introduction to Iceland and give you the opportunity to search for and perhaps view the Northern Lights. Different from any other program, because of the extreme climate and unpredictable weather conditions, you should be prepared for itinerary and flight schedule changes. This independent program includes no tour manager. The included Northern Lights tours often extend late into the evening and exact schedules depend on local weather conditions. Sightings cannot be guaranteed. You can expect to walk over rough, uneven terrain in dark conditions, and therefore proper winter clothing and footwear as well as a flashlight are essential for your safety and comfort. Meals may be expensive as most all of Iceland’s food is imported. Affordable optional sightseeing excursions are available to enhance your holiday. Most flights arrive to Iceland between 4:00-7:00 am, however hotel check-in begins at 2:00 pm. Only the pre-purchase of a hotel night will guarantee early check-in.
