![]() Welcome to Oslo, ancient capital of Norway! At 6 pm, meet your traveling companions for a welcome dinner at your hotel. (D) Day 2 Oslo. Today gives you a proper introduction to Oslo, the country’s hub of trade and industry. Sightseeing with a Local Guide features the National Theater, considered the home for Ibsen’s plays; the unique Storting building, seat of Parliament; and the Royal Palace, residence of Norwegian monarchs since 1849. Stroll through magnificent FROGNER PARK with Gustav Vigeland’s extraordinary sculptures; and visit the CITY HALL, where the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony is held each year. Afterwards, an optional excursion is available to see relics of Norway’s glorious seafaring past—including 1,000-year-old Viking ships! (B) Day 3 Oslo–Gol–Flam. Depart the city and drive northwest through Hallingdal, a large valley with rich traditions in iron production, cattle trade, and traditional folk art, music, and dance. Stop in Gol for a visit, before traveling through the world’s longest road tunnel (15 miles) to Aurland. Arrive in the picturesque village of Flåm, situated at the head of Aurlandsfjord. (B,D) Day 4 Flam–Nærøyfjord–Bergen. Highlight this morning is a [LF] breathtaking BOAT ride on the famous Nærøyfjord, the best known branch of the Sognefjord, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and also rated by the National Geographic Society as the world’s number one natural heritage site. In Gudvangen, board your coach and travel via Voss to Bergen, “City of Seven Mountains.” An orientation drive features the main sights: the Bergenhus Fortress with its medieval Håkon’s Hall and Rosenkrantz Tower, the charming Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf, a UNESCO World Heritage Site; the harbor; and the famous Fish Market. This evening, why not sample regional dishes at a traditional restaurant? (B) Day 5 Bergen. Follow your Local Guide through Bryggen: step back in time as you walk along narrow, cobblestone alleyways past colorful wooden houses. Also see the 12th-century St. Mary’s Church, where Hanseatic merchants attended religious services until the 1870s. Tonight, celebrate the success of your unforgettable journey with a dinner at your hotel. (B,D) Day 6 Bergen–Oslo. You will be transferred by TRAIN to Oslo (B). Day 7 Oslo. Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning. (B)
