Itinerary

Day 1 Siem Reap > Mekong Cruise

Sous Sdei and welcome to Cambodia! Begin your Mekong River adventure in Siem Reap by meeting your Scenic Tour Director in the foyer of the Park Hyatt Hotel at 8:45am. Join your fellow guests and journey to the port of Kampong Cham with a walk across the ancient Khmer bridge at Kampong Kdei and a stop at a stone cutters village en-route. Upon arrival be welcomed aboard the luxurious Scenic Spirit. After your welcome reception on the Sundeck, commence sailing to Wat Hanchey with its ancient pagoda and monastery. (Lunch, Dinner)

Day 2 Wat Hanchey > Kampong Cham

Awake as you approach Wat Hanchey, an ancient hilltop pagoda and monastery to meet the resident novice monks. Walk to the top and soak in some of the best elevated views of the cruise before sailing downstream to Kampong Cham.

Learn about the history of the area with a visit to Phnom Pros (Man Hill) and then Wat Nokor. Alternatively explore the ecotourism village of Cheung Kok or spend your time wandering through the township of Kampong Cham. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 3 Kampong Tralach > Oudong > Kho ChenHighlights: Enrich - Monk blessing

Cruise up the Tonle Sap River to Kampong Tralach, experience an ox cart ride from the ship through a local village and fields to Wat Kampong Tralach. Board your coach to the ancient capital of Oudong to visit the impressive pagoda and monastery to observe the lifestyle of the resident monks and nuns.

Receive a blessing in the pagoda from a monk and learn how to pray in a Buddhist pagoda before giving a donation which contributes to the daily meal of the resident nuns and monks.

Drive a short distance to Prek K’dam to re-board Scenic Spirit. Later sail downstream to wander through the silversmith village of Kho Chen before continuing your cruise to Phnom Penh. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 4 Phnom Penh

Journey to the Killing Fields and tour Tuol Sleng, or tour the local food market before joining a hands on Khmer cooking demonstration. Alternatively, by Tuk Tuk explore Phnom Penh’s colonial buildings, the Central Market as well as its modern architecture.

Arrive by tuk tuk and enjoy a guided tour of the historic Raffles, Hotel Le Royal, followed by an indulgent high tea prepared in front of you by the hotel’s chefs, all whilst sipping on your cocktail named in honour of Jacqueline Kennedy. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 5 Phnom Penh > Tan Chau

Visit the National Museum and Royal Palace before setting sail for the Cambodian and Vietnamese border. Relax during your afternoon of cruising as you cross the border into Vietnam. Celebrate arriving in Vietnam with your themed evening dinner. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 6 Tan Chau

Visit Evergreen Island and enjoy a ride in a Xe Loi to the local Cao Dai Temple. Alternatively explore Chau Doc city or visit Tra Su Bird Sanctuary. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 7 Sa Dec > Cai Be

Immerse yourself in the historic town of Sa Dec and explore the lively market. Stop for a green tea at the home of Mr Huynh Thuy Le who inspired Marguerite Duras’ novel L’Amant.

Board a sampan to visit Cai Be before stopping at local cottage industries and a traditional house. Alternatively savour afternoon tea at the French colonial Le Longanier House. Or choose an on board Freechoice activity. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

Day 8 Mekong Cruise > Ho Chi Minh City

Berth in My Tho and following breakfast, disembark and transfer to Ho Chi Min City. Upon arrival in Ho Chi Minh City you can be dropped off at the airport for your homebound flight or at your hotel of choice where your arrangements end. Expect to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City around 12:00-12:30pm. Please book flights to depart after 3pm. (Breakfast)
