DAY 2 MONDAY
Visit the evocative battlefields of Glencoe, scene of an infamous 17th-century massacre — one of the darkest days in Scottish history. After lunch, your barge cruises across Loch Lochy to the overnight mooring at Laggan Locks. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 4 WEDNESDAY
Cruise to Fort Augustus to descend its flight of five locks and moor opposite a Benedictine abbey. After lunch, visit the spectacular ruins of Urquhart Castle, set on a rocky peninsula on the banks of Loch Ness. Continue to Invermoriston Falls with its old bridge designed by Thomas Telford. Dine ashore this evening at a local restaurant. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 5 THURSDAY
Cruise scenic Loch Ness, keeping an eye peeled for its fabled monster, said to inhabit the murky waters, which are over 700 feet deep. After lunch, visit 14th-century Cawdor Castle, with its beautifully landscaped gardens and superb collection of tapestries, paintings and furniture. At Culloden Moor, view the site of the last pitched battle on British soil in 1746. Continue to Clava Cairns, a prehistoric clan burial site dating from 2,000 BC. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 6 FRIDAY
'Spirit of Scotland' cruises past the opened Tomnahurich swing bridge today, continuing to its final mooring at Muirtown. Visit the Glen Ord whisky distillery, which has been producing one of Scotland's best-known exports since 1838. Enjoy an explanation of the single and blended malt aging process followed by a tasting. Later, gather for a farewell dinner on board your barge. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

New for 2018, 'Spirit of Scotland' is the perfect place to admire the spectacular scenery of the Scottish Highlands in serenity and comfort. Sedately cruising the Caledonian Canal and the lochs of the Great Glen, she evokes the style of the traditional steamers that operated here in days gone by. Her bright and spacious salon has large picture windows as well as separate bar and dining areas. On board, enjoy delectable Scottish cuisine and a selection of local whiskies that immerse you in the local culinary culture. View the route ahead from the unique forward wheelhouse, relax in a recliner, or lounge in the heated spa pool on the expansive sun deck.
