Day 1 Cappadocia
Hosgeldeniz ! Welcome to Cappadocia
Cappadocia fascinates all travellers. Shaped by wind and water, its otherworldly rock formations have to be seen to be believed. Rock hewn churches, cave homes and incredible underground cities wait to be explored.
There are no planned activities on Day 1 and you can arrive at any time today.
Day 2 Cappadocia
This morning your Local Guide will meet you in the hotel lobby at 9.00am
Today you'll explore the Göreme Open Air Museum a monastic complex and Christian sanctuary of carved houses, churches and monasteries. One of the earliest centres for religious education, there are at least 10 churches and chapels in the museum area, dating between AD900 and 1200, with each one named after a prominent attribute by the local villagers. Explore the many examples of Byzantine art from the post-iconoclastic period. Enter the cave chapels and witness the exquisite colour of the biblical frescoes found within.
After a break for lunch we explore on foot with some hiking in one of the local valleys, it could be the valley of love where the fairy chimmneys the deserted rock cut homes and churches with frescoes will astound you or any other fantastic scenic route that our Guides know.
Enjoy a free evening or consider attending a Whirling Dervis Ceremony, your guide will be able to advise you on activities for the evening or refer to your Shortbreak information pack.
Day 3 Cappadocia
Another big day today as we head underground
This morning you are picked up from your hotel at 9am. Discover underground Cappadocia with your guide as they take you on an adventure through the corridors and rooms of this fascinating part of the city.
After our underground adventure we contine with our exploraing of this fascinating region.
You'll visit Devrent Valley with is unusual rock formations, Pasabag with it's three headed fairy chimney's and Cavusin with rock cut mosques, churches and homes. With out a doubt a highlight is a visit to Avanos located on the Red River. The clay from the Red River has been used in making local pottery for generations and we visit a local potter to see how this craft has developed through the ages, perhaps have a go on the wheel yourself.
Later this afternoon we have another suprise as we try some of the local wine and buy a bottle and watch the sunset over this lunar landscape with our Wine and Sunset Excursion.
Day 4 Cappadocia
Day 4 is departure day, you are free to depart at any time on day 4. Hotel check out will be 11.00am, Please speak to your booking agent if you wish to stay longer.
If you fly out today, please check with the hotel to store your luggage.

Travel to Turkey and break away from the bustle of the big cities to experience the rural culture of the Cappadocia region. A series of volcanic eruptions resulted in the area being swamped in ash, which then hardened to form a porous rock. The elements carved the terrain into the odd fairy chimneys, and later the inhabitants discovered they too could carve the rocks - even into homes and churches. A base in Goreme allows you to easily explore Cappadocia with a local guide. Come and discover Cappadocia's many mysteries and legends.
