Day 1, Arrive / Johannesburg, South Africa
With a warm welcome upon your arrival in South Africa, you’ll be assisted with your shuttle transfer to your well-appointed airport hotel. Enjoy a restful evening in the “City of Gold.”

Day 2, Gorongosa National Park, Mozambique
Your safari adventure kicks off with a flight to Beira. Here you’ll be greeted and soon on the road to world-renowned Gorongosa National Park at the southern end of the Great Rift Valley. Set on the shady banks of the Msicadzi River, your intimate seasonal safari eco-camp features spacious tents with en-suite bathrooms and indoor and outdoor bush showers. Meet your expert ranger for an introductory game drive into the floodplains of Lake Urema and the Pungwe River. Chances are good that you’ll see sweeping herds of oribi, waterbuck, reedbuck and impala, along with lions and numerous warthogs among the diverse fauna. Stop for refreshments beneath a grove of palms, and as the sky darkens, watch for the nocturnal porcupines, civets and genets that your ranger spotlights along the way back to camp. Replenish with a four-course dinner served riverside under the stars. (BLD)

Day 3, Gorongosa National Park
Join your ranger for a bush walk this morning, exploring the fever tree forests and floodplains surrounding camp. You’ll learn the full story behind the visionary restoration project going on within the park, along with encountering a menagerie of wildlife. You’ll likely see the iconic fish eagle and paradise flycatchers all around camp and often there are waterbuck, wildebeest, warthogs, baboons, monkeys, elephants and crocodile nearby. This afternoon, perhaps hike up Mount Gorongosa and cool off under a waterfall. After dinner, revisit the Golden Era of safaris as you watch vintage safari footage from Gorongosa in the 1960s. (BLD)

Day 4, Gorongosa National Park
Awaken to a symphony of birdsong and join your ranger for a guided walk up the river. Or, embark on a boating safari to get up close to Gorongosa’s legendary crocodiles and hippos. Perhaps visit the Gorongosa Wildlife Sanctuary to meet some of the Park’s newly re-introduced inhabitants or stroll to nearby Vinho village for an introduction to the park’s innovative “benefits beyond boundaries” program and a chance to enjoy the company of the lively villagers. On your return, take in the spectacular sunset with a customary ice-cold sundowner on the banks of the Pungwe River. Gather around a lanterned table for dinner beneath the canopy of the entire Milky Way, twinkling in the black African sky. (BLD)

Day 5, Veranda
Fly to the coast for three rejuvenating days on the beach. Your intimate luxury villa resort is situated on a spectacular peninsula within an unspoilt nature reserve. Snorkel in the clear lagoon, canoe through the mangroves, set sail on a dhow in search of dolphins or simply relax. (BLD)

Day 6, Veranda
Spend your day enjoying the resort’s many activities and amenities, or get out and explore. Just ten minutes away is UNESCO-recognized Ilha de Moçambique, the 16th century capital founded by the Portuguese. Or join an excursion to the local villages, and meet the Macua people, visit their houses and delve into their Arab history and culture. Scuba divers can join a professional dive guide or scuba on their own along the unspoiled reefs just off the coast. Romantics can indulge in a private lunch on an uninhabited island and dinner served on a secluded beach. (BLD)

Day 7, Veranda
Another blissful day to do as you please. Join the chef on his visit to the local market, take a sunset cruise, windsurf, swim, snooze…it’s all up to you. (BLD)

Day 8, Johannesburg / Depart
Savor your last morning in your beach paradise. Then, transfer by scheduled air charter flight to airport where you will board your international departure flight to Johannesburg. (B)
