Day 1: Arrive Anchorage, Alaska
Arrive in Anchorage and transfer to Girdwood, where you check in to your hotel. Enjoy activities on offer at your resort, such as a ride up Mount Alyeska on the Alyeska Aerial Tram to take in breathtaking views. This evening, gather for a festive welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (D)

Day 2: Kenai Peninsula | Scenic Float Trip
Experience Alaska’s jaw-dropping landscapes on a family float trip down the Portage River. Enjoy a salmon bake for lunch, followed by a visit to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a nonprofit organization that rehabilitates injured or orphaned animals and returns them to the wild. During your visit, keep on the lookout for bears, moose, bison, and a variety of birds. (B L)

Day 3: Kenai Peninsula | Along the Coast of the Kenai Fjords
Cruise along the coast of the stunning Kenai Fjords National Park, where you may spy calving glaciers as well as wildlife that includes orcas, puffins and sea lions at close range; overhead, bald eagles may even come into view. Ride the Alaska Railroad GoldStar Dome train, which features an open-air platform and a glass-covered observation deck for sensational views of the countryside. (B L D)

Day 4: Redoubt Bay | Bear Sanctuary
Soar over Cook Inlet when you fly by float plane to Redoubt Bay, a critical habitat for mammals, fish and hundreds of birds. While there, watch with your family from a pontoon boat as bears fish for spawning salmon, sometimes snatching the lively fish as they leap from the water. Later, explore the quaint downtown of Talkeetna and continue to your accommodations in a rustic-modern lodge that overlooks Denali National Park and North America’s tallest peak, Denali (formerly Mount McKinley). (B L D)

Day 5: Talkeetna | Fishing on the Susitna
Today, younger guests look forward to a visit to Kahiltna Birchworks, where learning about birch sap is rewarded with tastings of birch candy and ice cream. After lunch at your lodge, head out to fish the Susitna River, its waters teeming with Chinook and Coho salmon, and its banks lined with towering fir trees. This evening, enjoy time together at your wilderness lodge, perhaps relaxing on the deck fronted by mountain scenery or challenging each other to board games indoors by a giant river rock fireplace. (B L)

Day 6: Talkeetna | Kayaking, Hiking & Glacier Walk
More explorations of the magnificent Denali area begin with an all-ages kayak trip on the placid waters of Byers Lake. Next, your knowledgeable Resident Tour Director brings the forest to life on an exciting hike that reveals Alaska’s abundant flora and fauna. Later, take to the skies for a thrilling flight over the peaks and glaciers of Denali National Park, as your pilot, via two-way headset, explains the highlights you see (weather permitting). Land — and walk — on a glacier’s surface, all while surrounded by snow-veiled peaks in every direction. Back at your lodge tonight, a cozy celebration of the day awaits with a locally prepared Sweet Dreams treat, delivered to your room just before bedtime. (B L)

Day 7: Anchorage | Huskies & Iditarod Champions
Depart for Anchorage, stopping en route to visit the kennels of four-time Iditarod champion Martin Buser and his Alaskan husky team. Every March, this long-distance sled-dog race is run from Anchorage to Nome, with mushers, such as Martin, and their teams of 16 dogs facing everything from blizzards to subzero temperatures. Tonight, meet the chef who prepares your farewell dinner, and then feast and share favorite stories from your journey with the new friends you’ve made. (B L D)

Day 8: Depart Anchorage
After breakfast, board your homebound flight. (B)
