Bienvenidos! Depart the USA for Havana, Cuba's magical capital. This evening, enjoy a Welcome Drink with your fellow travelers and a briefing by the Tour Manager about the exciting program that awaits you in Cuba, followed by a Welcome Dinner with your fellow travelers. (Dinner)

DAY 2, Wednesday - City Tour of Havana
After breakfast, depart on a tour that reveals beautiful La Habana Vieja (Old Havana), the historic heart of the city, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Stroll the charming cobblestone lanes and admire the 16th century buildings being lovingly restored and transformed. Today's walking tour begins with a presentation by a Cuban architect on Havana's rich architectural heritage and its preservation. Continue to a local art workshop. Interact with artists and learn about their different techniques. Lunch at a local paladar introduces you to Cuba's savory cuisine. After, visit a local artist's home studio and enjoy a discussion on Cuban lifestyles, art, and private enterprise. Tonight, a fun-filled evening! Meet members of the Old Styler Car Club and then ride together in a colorful vintage "Old Styler" car to a local restaurant for a Welcome Dinner. Listen to the thunderous cannon blasts coming from the fortifications across the bay; the traditional "Canonazo Ceremony" has been held every evening since the 17th century! (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 3, Thursday - San Jose Craft Market, "Fusterlandia"
This morning, visit the Museum of the Revolution, housed in an ornate former neoclassical building that once served as the Presidential Palace. Continue to bustling San Jose Craft Market this morning, opportunity to view diverse expressions of Cuban art as you interact with some of the resident artists housed in this renovated warehouse built in the 1880s. Then, on to the Santo Angel neighborhood where you'll meet members of the community and learn how the project was founded to better the neighborhood by offering services such as a beauty school, community cafeteria for the elderly, art galleries to enrich the neighborhood and more. After lunch at a popular restaurant, be prepared for outrageous sights as you arrive at Casa Fuster, also known as "Fusterlandia," the bizarre studio of artist José Rodriguez Fuster. Most famous for bringing the amazing designs of Gaudi and Brancusi to Cuba, he has adorned the surroundings of his studio enclave with brightly colored sculptures and mosaics. Truly a sight to see! Later, meet a young Havana resident for an informative conversation about life in Cuba today and perspectives on Cuba's past, present, and future. Enjoy an evening at leisure to explore Havana on your own! (Breakfast, Lunch)

DAY 4, Friday - Finca Vigia, Buena Vista Social Club
Today begins with a morning visit to a Cuban primary school. Visit and learn more about projects efforts to encourage success with visual art and music. Lunch at a local paladar before departing for Finca Vigia, home of Nobel Prize-winning novelist Ernest Hemingway who lived in Cuba for over 30 years and left behind an enduring legacy. At the nearby tiny fishing village of Cojimar, view Hemingway's boat and the monument built to honor him. Return to Havana and stop at a local studio to see multi-media creations, often constructed out of reclaimed 1950’s signage. Enjoy a salsa dancing demonstration before a festive Farewell Dinner at one of the family-owned restaurants in Havana offering wonderfully prepared food along with a traditional setting. The evening concludes at a performance of the renowned Buena Vista Social Club, well known for their traditional Cuban music. On your last night in Cuba, bid a fond farewell to your Cuban guide, fellow travelers and an enlightening journey in Cuba. (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)

DAY 5, Saturday - Return Home

  • This active program covers a good amount of ground each day. Expect from two to three hours walking on some touring days. The pace is moderate, however you will encounter some uneven surfaces, stairs, steps and significant slopes. There are early morning wake-ups on this program. Not recommended for people who have difficulty walking or who have heart conditions. There will be little or no free time during your time in Cuba as all meals and sightseeing are included to be consistent with OFAC General License.
