Day 1: Sanur

Om Swastiastu! Welcome to Bali. Your adventure begins with a welcome meeting at 6 pm on Day 1. You can arrive at any time during the day as there are no activities planned until this important meeting. Check with the hotel reception where and when it will take place, or check the reception notice boards. Start your adventure in Sanur, with a quick taste of Bali. Sanur is home to one of best Balinese Night Markets.

Day 2: Tetebatu

Travel by minivan from Sanur to the port of Padang Bai (approximately 1.5 hours). Then you'll take a fast boat that takes you from Bali to Lombok (approximately 1.5-2 hours). Then take a bus to Tetebatu (approximately 2 hours). The hill retreat of Tetebatu is situated in the centre of Lombok, at the southern base of Mt Rinjani, and boasts spectacular views. (Breakfast)

Day 3: Tetebatu

Enjoy a guided walk through lush rice fields and see how the region's farmers have tended the land for centuries, still using traditional water buffalo ploughs. Climb a little higher and pass through clove and coffee plantations. Visit the local village of Pringgasela to learn traditional weaving and enjoy a delicious Sasak feast. Walking time today will be approximately two hours. In the afternoon return to the hotel, then travel to Labuan Pandan on the East Coast of Lombok. This remote beachside location is little visited by tourists. Tonight we will stay in our bungalow accommodation amid the peace and quiet of the secluded coast. (Breakfast, Lunch)

Day 4: Labuan Pandan

Take a trip out to the nearby coral reef and enjoy some fantastic snorkelling off the boat. Stop in at a secluded island for lunch with Mt Rinjani towering over Lombok. (Breakfast)

Day 5: Senaru

Travel by minibus around the spiritual centre and sleeping giant of the island, Mt Rinjani. Visit a market and local villages famous for their crafts, including bamboo weaving. The total driving time is about 5 hours, but it will take most of the day to reach your destination at Senaru as you'll stop a couple of times. Senaru is a small, rustic village nestled between the base of Mt Rinjani and the edge of the jungle.

Take a guided tour of the local Sasak village to learn about the history and culture of these people who have long lived on the slopes of Mt Rinjani. Here our local guide is part of a female guiding association that trains and develops women in tourism. Here we also take a walk to the spectacular Singang Gila waterfall, and perhaps swim in the waters which are considered by the Sasaks to have healing properties. (Breakfast)

Day 6: Gili Islands

Continue to the west coast today (approximately 3 hours). The Gili Islands (Tiga Gili) are an archipelago of three small islands – Gili Trawangan, Gili Meno and Gili Air. Transfer by small boat to Gili Air, where you can take in the breezy atmosphere and stroll down stunning white beaches that rival those of the neighbouring islands. Your hotel is about a 15-minute walk from the port. Your bags can be transported by Cidemo from the port to the hotel. (Breakfast)

Day 7: Gili Islands

The island is your oyster and today is completely free to relax or explore. Perhaps take in another snorkelling trip, or catch a ferry across to the other islands of Gili Air and Gili Meno and see who has the better beaches. This evening, feast on a delicious dinner of local seafood as you say farewell to your fellow travellers. (Breakfast, Dinner)

Day 8: Gili Islands

Your trip comes to an end today. Perhaps extend your stay on the blissful Gili Air. (Breakfast)

Notes
  • Ages: Min 15
  • Group size: Min 1, Max 12
  • Walking in the villages of Tetebatu and Senaru is on relatively flat ground; however, the terrain between villages and in the hills can be steep and, at times, slippery or muddy. On our waterfall walk from Senaru you will need to walk though a running stream. Footwear with good grip that can get wet is ideal.
  • The snorkelling trip off the East coast of Lombok is a great chance to witness the sealife, but bear in mind you'll need to be a confident swimmer.
  • Our accommodation on the East Coast of Lombok is remote, and away from the main town. Our simple bungalows and beachside location allow a great chance to unwind and enjoy the slow pace in this beautiful location.
  • Lombok is more conservative than Bali, so it's best to dress conservatively while you're there, particularly in smaller towns and during village walks.
  • A Single Supplement to have your own room is available on this trip and excludes nights 3 & 4 (Labuan Pandan), and 5 (Senaru) where you will be in shared accommodation.
  • This trip concludes on Gili Air. There closest departure flights operate from Bali (Ngurah Rai) Airport or Lombok International Airport. You can travel by fast boat back to Bali or Lombok. Please allow sufficient time for daily boat transfers and travelling time to meet your onward arrangements.
  • Please ask your Vacations To Go travel counselor for more information.
