Day 2 Welcome to Colombo
On arrival at Colombo Airport, you will be greeted and transferred to your hotel in Negombo. Take the afternoon to relax in this thriving fishing town. In the evening, join your Travelling Concierge for a Welcome Reception with a delicious meal.(WD)

Day 3 Habarana and the Cultural Triangle
Visit a Pineapple Plantation this morning where you are taken on a guided tour of the estate. Head for Habarana, in the centre of Sri Lanka's Cultural Triangle of UNESCO World Heritage sites - an excellent base to explore the region. In the afternoon, visit the evocative Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka's first known kingdom and the former capital of the island. See the rich architectural wonders of dagobas, brick towers, pools and crumbling towers, built during the city's thousand years of rule over the country.(BB / D)

Day 4 Rock fortresses and archaeological relics
In the morning, head to Sigiriya to visit the dramatic rocky outcrop of the famous rock fortress. This iconic ruin of an ancient civilisation rests on top of near vertical walls of a flat-topped summit; it is truly grandiose. Then, head for Polonnaruwa, an archaeological marvel that reveals what life was like some 800 years ago when the city was the thriving epicentre of commercial and religious life. In the archaeological park, you'll see hundreds of ancient structures, tombs, temples, statues and stupas - a sight to behold.(BB / D)

Day 5 Dambulla – Kandy
(Relaxed Start) Head off to Dambulla to see the most impressive of Sri Lanka's Cave Temples, Raja Maha Vihara. Known for the spectacular Buddha and Hindu statue filled interiors, the site's history dates to the 1st century BC. In Dambulla, head to a local market where your Travelling Concierge will introduce you to stall holders while you learn about Sri Lankan fruits and vegetables. Later, visit the Dalada Maligawa - the Sacred Tooth Relic - to see this most sacred site to the Buddhists of Sri Lanka. Here, enjoy a performance of traditional dance to the melodic drum.(BB / D)

Day 6 Tea Plantations in Little England
In the morning, head for Nuwara Eliya, with rolling hills and cooler temperatures, this haven was a favourite for English and Scottish pioneers of the tea industry. During your visit of a tea plantation, your Local Expert will show you how tea is produced today. At the tea garden, try your hand at the traditional technique of tea leave picking, and sample some of the freshest tea possible. Come evening, join your Travelling Concierge for a tour of the quaint city, with 19th century architecture mimicking that of an English country town.(BB / D)

Day 7 Nuwara Eilya at Leisure
(Relaxed Start) Enjoy a full day at leisure to take in the breathking scenery. Perhaps play a round of golf, visit a Strawberry Farm (available Dec to Apr) or explore the Galway Forest Nature Reserve and its many waterfalls?(BB)

Day 8 Colombo sightseeing
Head to Colombo where your afternoon sightseeing takes in all of the must-sees including Fort, the former British administrative centre and military garrison, the goldsmith's quarters in the heart of Pettah and the Bazaar area. In the evening, at a local restaurant, join your newfound friends in a special Celebration Dinner with drinks.(BB / CD)

Day 9 Kandy – Colombo
Your tour draws to a close after breakfast with a transfer to Colombo Airport for your onward flight.(BB)
