Morocco
This country in northern Africa offers diverse landscapes including the snowcapped Atlas Mountains, the Sahara Desert, coastal plains, rural villages and historic cities. Here you can see Casablanca, famous as the setting of the 1942 film starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman. Marrakesh, an imperial city with rose-red architecture, is another popular stop in Morocco. Sights include the Saadian tombs, Dar Si Said Museum and the Bahia Palace. The central square, Djemaa El Fna, features acrobats, belly dancers, snake charmers, storytellers and family-run food stalls.
The medinas of Marrakesh and Fez -- Morocco's oldest city -- encompass monuments and gardens and have been designated UNESCO World Heritage sites. Some trips also visit Morocco's capital, Rabat, home to the Royal Palace and the Casbah des Oudaias.
