Serengeti National Park has one of the most diverse wild animal populations in the world, and it is a must-see destination for many visitors to Tanzania. While traveling across the plains in four-wheel-drive vehicles, guests may spot lions, buffalo, cheetahs, leopards, rhinos and many more species.

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area, "Africa's Eden," encompasses grasslands, swamps, forests and lakes, attracting a continual migration of animals. Guests descend some 2,000 feet into the crater to observe zebra, wildebeest, gazelle and their predators. Keep an eye out for rare black rhinos grazing by the lakes. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is also home to Olduvai Gorge, where Mary and Louis Leakey discovered the fossilized remains of the earliest known man.

Impalas, elephants, giraffes, pink flamingos and the world's largest concentration of baboons inhabit Lake Manyara National Park, which is also known for its tree-climbing lions. Tarangire National Park is home to a large elephant population. Tanzania is also the site of Mount Kilimanjaro, which soars to 19,340 feet.
