Christmas Markets

There's no better way to celebrate the holiday season than with a trip to Europe's Christmas markets. A centuries-old tradition, these markets originated in Germany, Austria and France, but are now found in numerous towns and cities across Europe from late November through December.

Delight in a winter wonderland as you wander among rows of brightly decorated stalls and wooden huts that fill town squares and offer Christmas ornaments, handmade wooden toys, nutcrackers and other goods. As you browse for unique treasures along illuminated streets, feast on seasonal treats like roasted almonds, sip hot mulled wine and listen to the merry songs of carolers. Twinkling lights, the smell of freshly-baked gingerbread and festive decorations all signal that it's a special time of the year.
