The Royal Scotsman
One of the world's best luxury train experiences, the elegant Royal Scotsman was launched in 1985 and is the ideal base for a trip through the towering, pine-clad mountains and mirror-still lochs of the Scottish Highlands. The train consists of ten classic Pullman carriages purchased in 1990, including an open-deck observation carriage that is a superb spot from which to enjoy the spectacular scenery.
The five sleeping cars were originally built in the 1960s and, having been refurbished to exacting standards, provide a comfortable and intimate area to relax. Meals are served onboard in two mahogany-panelled dining rooms with seating for groups of two to eight. The exquisite cuisine is made from fresh, local ingredients; a range of fine wines, liqueurs and malt whiskies accompany lunch and dinner. And to make your journey complete, you can rent kilts and other forms of highland dress to wear while onboard.
