Day 1: Arrival Reykjavik
Upon arrival, head through passport control, collect your bags and go through customs to the Arrival Hall. The FlyBus transfer shuttle is waiting outside the arrival hall. Please show your confirmation information to the attendant on board and let him or her know the hotel you are using in Reykjavík. Important: The FlyBus is a shared bus transfer. You will not be met directly in the airport by a driver.
Once in Reykjavik, check into your hotel. If you arrive early in the day, you might want to explore Reykjavik’s old town area, location of many museums and galleries. You might also enjoy visiting one of the city’s outdoor geothermal swimming pools where you can shake off your jetlag. In the after-noon you could take one of our day tours, such as whale watching or horseback riding, both bringing you close to Iceland’s nature and landscape.
Overnight stay in Reykjavik.
Tonight at 18:00 (6:00pm) there is an information session at the hotel, where you’ll meet your guide and fellow participants and go over the itinerary for the next few days.
Reykjavik offers a multitude of restaurants and/or coffee-houses, making dining a great way to get better acquainted with Iceland’s capital. Perhaps you’ll opt to go on a northern lights tour later this evening? Several excursions are available, and we can help you booking a trip.

Breakfast at the hotel. You’ll be transferred to the Old Town area of Reykjavik where you’ll meet your guide. Enjoy a guided Christmas-themed walking and tasting tour of downtown Reykjavik. What better way to get into the spirit of the season than strolling around the city and visiting several unique restaurants with a fun & knowledgeable local guide by your side?
During this Reykjavik Christmas experience, you’ll gain insight into Icelandic holiday traditions old and new, as well the history, art, architecture, culture and cuisine of the capital city. Wander through the beautifully-decorated city centre, twinkling with festive holiday lights. The tour ends in Reykjavik around noon, where you’ll have free time to enjoy the city’s ambience as you please. Why not try ice skating on Ingolfstorg square to holiday tunes or watch the kids while sipping a mug of hot cocoa or mulled wine? Transfer back to the hotel on your own.
Later this afternoon, you’ll visit the Blue Lagoon, the world-famous geothermal lake surrounded by lava fields. At this time of the day, it is especially beautiful with the dark skies and the festive lighting that makes the Blue Lagoon so luminous.
Overnight again in Reykjavik. Dinner is on your own. The Center Hotel Midgardur offers an excellent Christmas menu, and there are holiday options in other restaurants in the area. Please book these in advance in order to ensure a place, as space is limited.
Celebrate Christmas Departure: For the 23rd of December departure, you will take the walking tour today as above, but the Blue Lagoon visit will be on day 4 (26 December).

Golden Waterfall – High Spouting Geyser – Walk between two continents
After breakfast at your hotel, your guide will meet you at 09:30 (9:30am). Today you will experience the trio of natural wonders along the Golden Circle route in South Iceland, a true winter wonderland. Highlights include the breath taking Gullfoss waterfall, which is often frozen mid-cascade during winter; the active Geysir geothermal area of hot springs spouting geysers and bubbling mud pots; and Thingvellir National Park (UNESCO World Heritage Site), Iceland’s greatest historical site. Thingvellir is an important geological site; this is where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates meet and you can walk in a canyon that divides the two continents.

Winter Wonderland – Amazing Waterfalls – Black Sand Beach – Snowmobile adventure
Breakfast at your hotel. Today you’ll travel along the South Shore, a gorgeous region to experience in the light and shadows of winter. Visit two waterfalls iconic to this region. Seljalandsfoss is a ribbon-like plume dropping off a cliff. You can walk behind the falls if trails conditions allow for it. Skogafoss is one of Iceland’s most photographed falls and is said to hide buried treasure from the Middle Ages.
If the skies are clear, you´ll be able to see two famous volcanoes: beautiful Mount Hekla and the glacier-crowned Eyjafjallajokull. You might even glimpse the Westman Islands off Iceland’s coast.
Near the village of Vik is the black sand beach of Reynisfjara with its basalt formations and powerfully thundering Atlantic waves. Near Vik is also the Mydalsjokull glacier, where you’ll take an amazing snowmobile trip in a world of ice. It’s a true adrenaline-pumping experience to fly across the glacier on a snowmobile with views far across the horizon.
Return to Reykjavik in the late afternoon where the evening is yours to enjoy the Christmas feeling of the city
