Click for Dates and Prices Day 1 Arrive Boston
Tour begins: 5:30 PM?at The Lenox Hotel. A transfer is included from Logan International Airport to The Lenox Hotel, ideally located in Boston's historic Back Bay neighborhood. Join us tonight for a welcome reception at the hotel, followed by a welcome dinner at a local restaurant. (D)

Day 2 Plimoth Plantation and Martha's Vineyard
Plymouth, where the pilgrims first established a settlement in 1620, is a fitting first stop on your journey through American history. Visit Plimoth Plantation, a restoration depicting the times, lifestyles, and crafts of 17th-century Plymouth, and see Plymouth Rock. Head south for free time in Falmouth, before boarding a ferry bound for Martha's Vineyard. Your accommodations for the next two nights are in Edgartown, once an important whaling center and today a popular summer resort. (B, D)

Day 3 Exploring Martha's Vineyard
A haven for seasonal delights, much of this storied island remains exactly as it was when the first Europeans arrived in the early 17th century. Guided sightseeing today includes the towns of Oak Bluffs, Vineyard Haven, and West Tisbury; the island is endowed with salt sea marshes, sweeping beaches, idyllic yacht harbors, and narrow streets lined with stately homes that are pure pleasure to explore. And the afternoon is free to enjoy it your way from your Edgartown hotel! (B)

Day 4 Nantucket's whaling days & on to Cape Cod
Weather permitting, today we will visit Nantucket Island, which three centuries ago was the whaling capital of the world. A short 15-minute flight takes you to the home of unspoiled beaches, lone lighthouses, sea captains' houses and art galleries. While here, enjoy a guided sightseeing journey around the island, as well as a visit to the Nantucket Whaling Museum at your leisure. Your destination tonight is the quaint seaside village of Chatham, where you will feast on a New England lobster and clam dinner. (B, D)

Day 5 The Cape, Provincetown & whale-watching
A drive along one of the Cape's most scenic and remote stretches leads to Provincetown, rewarding with maritime legacies and creative flair; visit Cape Cod National Seashore to learn about the area's flora and fauna and explore the village on your own for lunch. Whales have been in the picture since the 1800s when "P-town" was a very busy whaling harbor. Head out with cameras in hand on a whale-watching cruise this afternoon to view these huge, often playful, marine mammals in their natural habitat, weather permitting. Return to the resort for dinner. (B, D)

Day 6 On to legendary Newport
Leave the Cape this morning and head along the coast to historic Newport, Rhode Island, with a stop en route for lunch in - believe it or not - the town of Sandwich! Newport is renowned as a long-time haven for yachting enthusiasts, former home of the America's Cup, and one of the great playgrounds of the rich in the 19th and early 20th centuries. Drive past some of the ostentatious mansions that served as summer "cottages" for affluent socialites during the Gilded Age, and explore the celebrated Ten-Mile Drive; your home for the next two nights of your New England vacation is set right on Newport Harbor. (B, L)

Day 7 The Breakers, a bay cruise & more in Newport
If you wish, join your Tauck Director for a morning stroll along the oceanfront Cliff Walk, combining the natural beauty of Newport's shoreline with the architectural history of the Gilded Age. A visit to The Breakers reveals the opulence of Newport's most palatial estate; this magnificent mansion was the seaside summer home of Cornelius Vanderbilt. Spend the afternoon exploring more of Newport on your own, then enjoy a delightful cruise through Newport Harbor and Narragansett Bay... ending with your arrival by boat at Forty 1° North Marina Resort for our exclusive farewell cocktail reception and dinner overlooking Newport Harbor. (B, D)

Day 8 Journey home from Boston
After breakfast, drive back to Boston. Tour ends: 12:30 PM at Logan International Airport, Boston or 1:30 PM at The Lenox Hotel, traffic permitting. Airport transfers are included; allow two hours for check-in. Ask at booking about additional hotel nights. (B)
