Day 1 New Orleans, Louisiana - Tour Begins
Welcome to the “Jazz Capital of the World!” On this special departure, you’ll enjoy Carnival during its first weekend, right when the parades start rolling before Mardi Gras.
Day 2 French Quarter
This morning, enjoy a panoramic city tour with a local guide. Start by seeing St. Louis Cemetery #3 which opened in 1854 and holds some of the most elaborate crypts found in the city’s cemeteries. Visit a museum in Tremé and gain a historical perspective on Mardi Gras traditions. Then, relax during a drive along the shoreline of Lake Pontchartrain. This romantic road eventually leads to St. Charles Avenue, whisking you past gorgeous mansions and two world-famous universities, Tulane and Loyola. This afternoon, celebrate the festive side of New Orleans at Mardi Gras World! Here, come to know the history of this tradition and tour a working warehouse where artisans create spectacular floats for the famous parades. Tonight, learn to cook New Orleans-style! During a cooking demonstration at the New Orleans School of Cooking, your chef will indulge you in everything Louisiana cuisine has to offer. After dinner, discover for yourself why New Orleans is the “Birthplace of Jazz” during a roaring jazz revue at a local club in the French Quarter. (B,D)
Day 3 French Quarter
Introduce yourself to the city’s famous French Quarter on a walking tour that features such sights as the majestic St. Louis Cathedral, one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. Continue on to the bustling French Marketplace where you’ll explore Pirates Alley and view the Pontalba. Next, head over to Café Du Monde for a taste of a true New Orleans favorite – beignets! And tonight, enjoy reserved seats at an uptown parade!* Make sure to bring a bag along for all of the plush throws, beads and treasures you may catch! (B)
Day 4 New Orleans
Enjoy some free time this morning before heading to your reserved seats at another dazzling uptown parade! Tonight, laissez les bon temps rouler (let the good times roll) during dinner at The Court of Two Sisters in the French Quarter, where a private balcony yields unforgettable views of the colorful crowd below.
