Dear Vacations To Go Customer,

I'd like to start today by offering you a complimentary issue of any of the magazines published by our parent company, Vacation Publications.

For a complimentary issue of Vacations, filled with new vacation ideas for travelers of all ages, click here.

For a complimentary issue of Travel 50 & Beyond, tips and best buys for travelers over 50, click here.

And for a complimentary issue of Where to Retire, the only guide you'll need to find the ideal setting for your retirement, click here.

Today, I'll cover tours that focus on special events and seasonal attractions, such as the performances of bagpipers and drummers at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the colorful spectacle of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta and the Christmas markets of Germany and Austria.

Availability is limited for these popular vacations, so I recommend booking soon. Click the links for more information, including dates, prices and all available discounts.

The Calgary Stampede (July 6-15) in Alberta, Canada, is one of the largest rodeos in North America, where you can watch bull riding, barrel racing and chuck wagon racing, and see the livestock shows and concerts.

The sounds of bagpipes and drums fill the air at the Edinburgh Military Tattoo (August 3-25), which showcases Scottish regimental bands and performers from other countries. Many tour operators have secured tickets to the Tattoo, which takes place in front of Edinburgh Castle.

Organizers of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta (October 6-14) in New Mexico claim that it is the world's most photographed event. Highlights include the early morning mass ascension of more than 500 balloons and the nighttime "balloon glow," when pilots fire their burners at the same time.

Most of our fall foliage tours take in the autumn colors and crisp weather of scenic New England locales like the White Mountains of New Hampshire and the Maine coast. But you'll also find fall foliage trips elsewhere in the U.S. (such as along the Columbia River in Washington and Oregon or in the national parks of the West) or in eastern Canada.

Join the revelry of the 185th Oktoberfest (September 22-October 7) in the German city of Munich as visitors gather under tents to sample a variety of beers and traditional fare. Several Oktoberfest departures are offered by Contiki, which caters to travelers ages 18 to 35.

In October and November, the polar bears of Canada congregate on the shores of Hudson Bay near Churchill in Manitoba province, waiting for it to freeze over so they can begin their winter hunting. Tour guests ride in heated tundra buggies equipped with viewing platforms for close looks at the creatures.

European Christmas markets are a longstanding tradition in Germany, Austria and other countries on the continent. At the outdoor bazaars, vendors sell toys, ornaments, nutcrackers and creches, and shoppers snack on grilled sausages, gingerbread and hot mulled wine called glühwein.

Ring in the new year in Sydney or New York City, or while on a romantic European river cruise.

Rose Parade tours in Southern California include reserved spots in the grandstand at the 130th Rose Parade on January 1, 2019.

The Iditarod in Alaska is the world's most famous sled dog race, and it's the focus of a couple of itineraries departing in February 2019. Meet four-time Iditarod champion Martin Buser at his kennels, enjoy the festivities at the Musher's Banquet and attend the ceremonial start of the race in Anchorage on March 2 (and, if weather and trail conditions permit, the official restart in Willow on March 3).

Some Brazil-bound itineraries immerse guests in the festivities of Carnival in Rio de Janeiro, one of the largest pre-Lent festivals in the world. It takes place over a few days before Ash Wednesday, starting March 1 in 2019.

Tulip time in Holland is celebrated on springtime river cruises that reveal colorful floral displays and green countryside dotted with windmills. A highlight is a visit to Keukenhof Gardens, planted with more than 7 million bulbs.

The New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival has been a Crescent City tradition since 1970, drawing musicians, cooks and craftspeople. It takes place over the last weekend in April and the first weekend in May. We have tour departures that include tickets for the 50th annual festival in 2019 and for 2020's event.

Each year, nearly 2 million animals move through Tanzania and Kenya, driven by seasonal rain and drought in what is known as the Great Migration. Wildebeest, zebras and gazelles make up the largest populations of the migrating herds. Their path follows a general pattern, and safaris timed to coincide with this ritual offer an experience unlike any other.

Seek out the elusive Northern Lights in Alaska, Canada, Greenland, Iceland, Norway or Finland. During long winter nights, swaths of green, blue and red lights sweep across the sky; they are most visible from September through March.

Oberammergau itineraries include tickets to the famed Passion Play, performed in Germany's Bavarian Alps every 10 years. It tells the story of the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ and draws hundreds of thousands of international visitors. The next performances will run from May 16 through October 4, 2020, and tour operators have already released departures that include tickets.

Finally, here are a few more celebrations around the world that you can experience on an escorted tour:

Inti Raymi, the Inca Festival of the Sun in Cusco, Peru (June 2018 and 2019)
Naadam Festival, a celebration of nomadic culture in Mongolia (July 2018 and 2019)
Sarawak Rainforest World Music Festival in Borneo (July 2018 and 2019)
